What Self Leveling Epoxy Is and How It Works

Self leveling epoxy is a low viscosity epoxy system designed to flow freely across a concrete surface and settle into a flat, smooth plane under gravity. It is applied in a fluid state and uses its own weight and flow characteristics to fill in depressions and create a consistently level surface.
Once cured, the self leveling layer provides a stable, flat substrate for the topcoat system. Without it, a standard epoxy applied to an uneven slab will follow the contours of the concrete and show every dip and ridge through the finished floor, which is both a cosmetic problem and, in commercial environments, a safety and operational one.
Self leveling epoxy is not a solution for structurally damaged concrete. Cracks and spalling need to be repaired before the self leveling material is applied. But for concrete that is structurally sound and simply uneven, it is the most efficient path to a flat, coatable surface.

Step 4: Surface Preparation
